Sweet and Sour Pork


  • 1 1/2 lbs. lean pork, cubed (smoked sausage or Little Smokies may be used)
  • 2 tablespoons butter-flavored Crisco or oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 Wyler’s Chicken bouillon cube
  • 1 20 1/2 oz. can Dole pineapple chucks or tidbits
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon Kikkoman soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 green pepper – thinly sliced
  • 1/4 onion – thinly sliced
  • Hot cooked rice
  1. Brown meat slowly in hot Crisco oil.
  2. Add water and bouillon.
  3. Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
  4. Drain syrup from pineapple into sauce pan.
  5. Add brown sugar, cornstarch, vinegar, soy sauce, and ginger.
  6. Cook until thick and bubbly, stirring constantly.
  7. Add sauce to meat.
  8. Add pineapple, green pepper, and onion.
  9. Simmer 10 minutes.
  10. Serve over rice.

Sweet and Sour Pork with Stir-fry Vegetables

1 1/2 lbs. lean pork, cubed
2 tablespoons oil
1 cup water
1 20 1/2 oz. can Dole pineapple tidbits
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon Kikkoman soy sauce
1 teaspoon ginger
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
1 “family size” package of Picsweet with Oriental Seasoning, Family Size Baby Stir-Fry Vegetables



Hot cooked rice (4 cups)

  1. Cook rice
  2. Brown meat slowly.
  3. Add vegetables and cover.
  4. Cook 10 to 15 minutes.
  5. Drain syrup from pineapple into sauce pan.
  6. Add water, brown sugar, cornstarch, vinegar, soy sauce, and ginger.
  7. Cook until thick and bubbly, stirring constantly.
  8. Add sauce to meat.
  9. Add pineapple.
  10. Simmer 10 minutes.
  11. Serve over rice.
