Lucille’s Beans


  • 2 extra large cans Hunt’s Pork and Beans
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup catsup
  • 1/4 cup dried onion
  • 1 20 oz. can Dole Crushed Pineapple
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 tablespoon dried mustard
  • 1-2 lbs. ham – cubed
  1. Combine and heat on stove, in the oven, or in a crock-pot.

Shirl’s simplified variation – March 9, 2019

  • 1 extra large can – 55 oz – Bushes’ original beans
  • 1 20 oz. can Dole Crushed Pineapple
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 pounds bacon ends cut in small pieces and cooked tell nearly crisp
  1. Fry bacon in a small electric frying pan and drain
  2. Drain beans
  3. Add beans, pineapple, brown sugar
  4. Heat to reduce juices until thick
