- 1 cup grated carrots
- 1 cup grated potatoes
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup currents
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 2 cups fine bread crumbs
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon cloves
- 1 tablespoon nutmeg
- 1 cup walnuts – chopped
Pan: pudding molds or cans with tightly fitting lids (foil)
– greased and sugared
Kettle: High heat to start steaming
lower heat to maintain steam
Time: 3 hours
1. Dissolve soda by sprinkling it in the potatoes.
2. Mix all other ingredients.
3. Put in buttered molds.
4. Steam for 3 hours
