Maple Walnut Pie


  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 3 slightly beaten large eggs
  • 1 cup pure maple syrup (no substitutions!)
  • ½ cup light cream
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 9-inch unbaked pie shell
  • Whipped cream for topping
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and set the oven rack to the upper middle level.
  2. Cream together the butter and brown sugar.
  3. Beat in eggs, maple syrup, cream, vanilla, salt and flour. 
  4. Fold in the chopped walnuts.
  5. Scrape the batter into the pie shell
  6. Bake on the upper middle oven rack at 350 degrees for 45 to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the pie comes out clean. 
  7. Cool the pie on a rack. 
  8. Serve at room temperature with plenty of unsweetened whipped cream.
  9. Makes one 9-inch pie, enough to serve 8 to 12.
