- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 1/2 cups apples, peeled and chopped
- 1 cup walnuts, or to taste
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 4 Tbsp butter
- 2 cups water
- Cream butter (2 Tbsp), milk, and sugar.
- Add flour, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt.
- Fold in raisins, apples and nuts.
- Pour into a greased 9 X 13 pan.
- Bring the brown sugar, butter (4 Tbsp), and water to a boil.
- Pour over the batter in the pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
