Norma’s Mint Brownies


  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 2 ozs Baker’s baking chocolate (unsweetened)
  • 1 1/2 cups butter-flavored Crisco
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 7 eggs
  • 1 cup walnuts – chopped
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

  • Pan: 1/4 rimmed sheet pan – well-greased
  • Oven: 350′
  • Time: 30 to 35 minutes
  1. Melt chocolate in metal bowl over hot water
  2. Cream together sugar, Crisco, vanilla, and then honey in with melted chocolate
  3. Sift salt, cocoa, and flour together
  4. Mix well and add walnuts (will be very thick)
  5. Beat eggs
  6. Mix in, until all ingredients are just together – don’t over mix
  7. Bake
  8. Cool on wire rack 20 minutes
  9. Trim edge if necessary
  10. Freeze
  11. Frost with green-mint frosting
  12. Freeze
  13. Frost with chocolate frosting

Green Frosting


3 cups powdered sugar

3 Tablespoons butter and

3 Tablespoons milk [may need more milk]

1 teaspoon mint flavoring

1 teaspoon green food coloring


Chocolate Frosting


1/4 cup cocoa

3 cups powdered sugar

3 Tablespoons butter and

3 Tablespoons milk [may need more milk]
