Old-Fashioned Apple Pie


3/4 to 1 cup sugar
2 tablespoon flour
1/2 to 1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 to 7 cups sliced peeled apples (4 large Granny Smiths)
2 tablespoon butter

Pan: 9" pie plate
Oven: 425
Time: 50 - 60 Minutes
- until crust is browned and apples are tender

  1. Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.
  2. Mix lightly through apples (sliced 1/4" thick).
  3. Heap in pastry-lined 9" pie pan.
  4. Dot with butter.
  5. Adjust top crust and flute edges.
  6. Cut vents.
  7. Bake.
